When Leaving Home Is Not An Option
When Leaving Home is Not an Option: Online Resources Being Offered by BPS
As we are all adjusting to life in the world of COVID-19, the legal community no longer has the option of taking cases right to court. Fortunately, there are ways to continue being productive in moving your case towards resolution without court intervention. In addition to in-person meetings that follow proper social distancing guidelines, the family law attorneys at Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP are offering the following online services to assist you during this difficult time.
1. Virtual Consultations: If you find yourself in need of a family attorney, you can schedule a consultation to discuss your case and learn about your options. We are offering these meetings via telephone conference or Zoom virtual conference. We will send you simple instructions for how to utilize the Zoom platform for your consultation.
2. Online Divorce Mediation and Online Collaborative Process: All of our family law attorneys are trained mediators and collaborative professionals. It is important for clients to know that there are other alternative dispute resolution models that can be used. These models can be helpful in managing all manner of disputes including divorce issues, new custody cases, child support determinations and modifications, and even co-parenting issues before and after divorce. The courts are now permitting judgment to enter on uncontested divorces without the need for parties to appear in court. You can negotiate and complete your divorce without stepping foot in a courtroom.
3. Online Private Special Master: Even if you have already retained an attorney, a private special master may be able to assist you and your counsel in resolving your case. Special Masters has been a long-standing settlement tool offered through the family court. More and more lawyers recommend retaining special masters privately. Now is an ideal time to take advantage of this option to get cases resolved and ready to be finalized as soon as the courts reopen. Many of our experienced family attorneys, who serve in this capacity in multiple family courts, can serve in this role as private Special Masters. The process can be conducted using Zoom videoconferencing so that Covid-19 safety protocols are followed. Not only can this process help resolve disputes, in most pending cases, it can substitute for the court mandated process saving litigants both time and money.
While we continue to work remotely, our family law attorneys can always be reached via telephone and email if you find yourself in need of one of the services above. Feel free to reach out at any time. We are here to help.
